Biography

Katia Reitman (b. 1990) is a visual artist and illustrator born and raised in Rostov-on-Don, in the North Caucasus region of Russia. In 2012 she moved to Moscow where she studied Illustration and Graphic Design at HSE Art and Design School. Her practice includes painting, drawing, printmaking, photography, artist’s books and illustrations. She lives and works in Tbilisi, Georgia.

Artist’s work exists between the figurative and abstract, with images that are sometimes fully manifested and other times deliberately obscured. Her creative process draws upon personal diaries, memories at the intersection of collective and individual experience, female imagery in art history and pop culture, and the legacy of European Romanticism. Recurring themes in her work include overwhelming emotions, healing through nature, solitude, strangeness, and the collision between imagination and reality.

She has participated in exhibitions in Moscow and Tbilisi. Her works are part of private collections across multiple countries.
